Thomas Kurz on Good and Bad Workouts.
People with responsibility for organizing or conducting warm-ups or workouts, consider checking out this provocative essay by Thomas Kurz, author of Science of Sports Training, “Examples of Good and Bad Workouts.” Plenty of points to consider. (My fave, “jumping jacks – one of the lamest exercises”.)
Important considerations about risks of hard training surfaces for “hard” martial arts too.
Upon reflection, our Tai Chi and Qigong warm-ups, workouts, and cooldowns at Enso Tai Chi seem to hold up pretty well under Thom’s analysis, and he offers good ideas and concepts on how we can improve.
Thom puts out lots of solid, often mythbusting, information, on fitness, flexibility, strength, nutrition, and more. Check out this site for more: www.stadion.com
