Tai Chi for Balance Level 1

The Doctor-Recommended Program
for Preventing Falls

Final Level 1 Course of 2026

Classes Begin October 14

The bad news: Falling is the #1 cause of injury for adults 65+.

The good news: Falls are preventable.

And Tai Chi is the #1 exercise for improving balance and stability in older adults, recommended by doctors nationwide.

Autumn is an especially good time to work on balance.

As we head toward winter—early nightfall, slippery sidewalks, snow, and ice—Tai Chi for Balance training will help keep you on your feet.

Join me this October to build the stability, strength, and confidence you need to stay on your feet and avoid falls.

"I haven't fallen again."

"I've fallen and broken bones. So scary! But since taking Tai Chi for Balance, I'm much steadier, and have not fallen again. Chris is a wonderful teacher!"

Karen K., Tai Chi for Balance Graduate

Why Tai Chi for Balance Works

Falling is the #1 cause of injury for adults 65+.

Falls send 3 million adults to emergency room each year and are leading cause of injury and loss of independence.

Injuries from falls include fractured wrists, broken hips, cracked skulls, concussions, sprains, strains, cuts, and bruises.

Yet falls are preventable.

Leading medical authorities, including the CDC, Harvard Medical School, and the Mayo Clinic, recognize Tai Chi as the #1 exercise for preventing falls.

In this 10-week Tai Chi for Balance Level 1 Course, you’ll:

• Strengthen Your Legs and Hips

• Develop Whole Body Awareness

• Improve Posture

• Explore a low-impact, Tai Chi-based exercise system you can practice anywhere.

• Learn Practical Strategies for Avoiding Falls

With Tai Chi for Balance Training, you'll build strength, stability, and confidence in your ability to move safely and comfortably.

By the end of the course, you’ll feel stable, secure, and confident on your feet

“Falls are devastating not only for older adults, but for middle-aged and younger people with musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis.
Even the fear of falling can adversely impact mental health and profoundly reduce quality of life.
Chris Cinnamon has created an evidence-based program to help improve balance and stability while restoring peoples' confidence and trust in their own bodies.”

Chris Cinnamon, JD, MS, C-EP

Certified Exercise Physiologist, Head Instructor, Author

I'm a Certified Exercise Physiologist, Head Instructor at Chicago Tai Chi, and creator of the Tai Chi for Balance program.

I've taught Tai Chi for Balance for more than 10 years, helping older adults across the U.S. and 14 other countries become stable, secure, and confident on their feet.

I'm also the author of two books:

Tai Chi for Knee Health: The Low-Impact Exercise System for Eliminating Knee Pain (2019)

Tai Chi for Balance: How to Stay on Your Feet and Avoid Falls (2023)

Before moving into health and wellness, I practiced law for 22 years. Before that I served in the U.S. Navy, flying carrier-based F-14 Tomcat fighter jets.

I earned my law degree from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Science in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

This Spring, I had the pleasure of teaching the largest Tai Chi for Balance group in the program's 10-year history. More than 35 students joined us, making impressive progress throughout the program. Many have continued at Chicago Tai Chi, joining our other classes.

I’m excited to build on that momentum with our final Level 1 course of 2026.

If you're 65+ or worried about falling, I encourage you to join us.
